Early Times Report

Jammu, June 7: The much hyped Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) led by Ghulam Nabi Azad failed to make any impact on the ground during the recently held Lok Sabha elections.
According to the details available with Early Times all DPAP candidates lost their deposits. None of the DPAP candidates managed to secure even four percent of the votes.
Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, contesting from Udhampur, received 3.56 percent, Mohammad Salim Parre from Anantnag-Rajouri got 2.49 percent, and Aamir Bhat from Srinagar secured 2.24 percent.
An analyst while talking to this newspaper said, “Poor show by the Ghulam Nabi Azad led party has proven beyond doubt that the former J&K chief minister needs to do a lot of hard work to strike a chord

Azad should introspect and devise a strategy to make his presence felt.
with the voters.”
He said, “The DPAP candidate couldn’t even fetch votes in Pir Panjal region and Chenab Valley. Both the areas were considered as the bastions of Azad.”
“It seems Azad’s decision to quit Congress and float his own party has backfired as it has failed to yield the desired results. His loyalists who had joined him when he announced to float his own party have deserted him,” the analyst added.
He said, “Below par performance of the DPAP candidates has proven beyond doubt that new political parties are going to find it hard to make inroads into the areas of established political parties.”
“Azad should introspect and devise a strategy to make his presence felt rather than waiting for the things to happen on their own,” the analyst added.
