Police arrest 3 notorious drug peddlers in two different FIRs, recovered heroin like substance, cash from their possession

KISHTWAR, June 10: District Police Kishtwar has achieved a significant breakthrough in its anti-drug campaign, "Operation Sanjeevani," with the arrest of Three notorious drug peddlers and the recovery of a heroin-like substance.
SSP Kishtwar, while divulging the details, said that information was developed regarding the smuggling and sale of narcotics among the youth in the Gudhali area of Kishtwar by two notorious drug peddlers, namely Sonam Angyal S/O Sonam Tsring R/O Padder, presently residing at Brahman Mohalla Kishtwar, and Sujal Kumar Shan S/ORamesh Kumar Shan R/O Dool, presently residing at Brahman Mohalla Kishtwar. On this information, a case FIR No. 159/2024 U/Sec. 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at PS Kishtwar. A team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar and supervised by Dy SP Hqrs Kishtwar, raided the rented accommodation of both accused persons. During the search, 18 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession along with ?23,300 in cash, a digital electronic weighing machine, and aluminum foil.
Moreover, in the early hours, a patrolling party from PS Kishtwar noticed the suspicious behavior of one person attempting to evade the patrol. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended him, resulting in the recovery of a heroin-like substance weighing about 5.5 grams. The accused disclosed his identity as Vikas Sharma @Rohit S/O Raj Kumar Sharma R/O Near Main Bus Stand Udhampur, presently residing at Akhyarabab Kishtwar. In this regard, case FIR No. 160/2024 U/Sec. 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Kishtwar and an investigation was taken up.
SSP Kishtwar emphasized that the investigating officer has been instructed to thoroughly examine the backward and forward linkages in the case, including scrutinizing the bank account statements of the accused persons. This is to ensure that all individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances are brought to justice under the relevant provisions of the law.
SSP Kishtwar urged the general public of the district to come forward with any information related to the illegal drug trade. He assured the public that the identity of informants would be kept confidential, and suitable rewards would be provided.
