Zubair convenes public darbar at Shopian; emphasizes time bound redressal of local grievances

SHOPIAN, June 10: Commissioner Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Zubair Ahmad, today convened a public darbar at Shopian to assess and address public issues and concerns.
The camp marked the beginning of fresh phase of public outreach programmes, being held under J&K government’s ambitious initiative to redress public grievances and demands.
The delegations comprising members from District Development Council, fruit growers, traders, tribal leaders, activists, youth besides locals projected various development issues and demands of their respective areas.
These delegations raised various issues, requiring attention and redressal by the authorities, spanning across various departments.
The major developmental issues inter alia included augmentation of power transmission, more Fair Price Shops under Public Distribution System, play grounds, coverage of more transport routes through RTC, car parking in Shopian town, revision of Master Plan for Shopian Town, water supply issues and filling up of vacant posts in health centres of the district.
Besides, issues of farmers like provision of insurance cover in case of adverse weather vagaries including hailstorm, strengthening pre and post harvest strategies and interventions besides irrigation facilities were also highlighted for appropriate action before the Visiting Officer.
Responding to public issues, the Commissioner Secretary assured appropriate action for redressal of all public issues in a phased process. He directed the concerned departments to ensure vigorous follow up on genuine public grievances and issues, highlighted on the occasion for redressal at an earliest.
He also asked for timely resolution of local issues, particularly those requiring inter- departmental coordination at the district and block level.
Expressing satisfaction with the outreach program, the locals appreciated the opportunity to voice their grievances for redressal at the earliest.
Zubair reiterated the Government’s commitment towards enhancing public services and ensuring an effective and responsive administration.
He underscored the importance of grievance redressal programs in institutionalizing an effective output mechanism.
Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Faz-Lul Haseeb, deliberated on various issues while apprising of measures and interventions being taken up by the district administration for public welfare and development.
PRI representatives, locals and district officers were present on the occasion.
