Police present challan in Greater Kailash murder case

Jammu, July 29: The Jammu Police presented challan against Sharat Puri, Mehmood Sheikh (IPS Retd), Ravinder Gupta @ Gola Shah, Parshotam Singh and Sachin Patiyal, Darvinder Pal Singh, Suraj Singh, Varun Kumar, Rajat Jandiyal s/o Ravinder Gupta, Vikas Singh, Jaypreet Singh @ Honey and Sandeep Charak, Gambhir Singh and Vishal Singh, Poonam Kumari and Raghunadan.
On 30.04.2024 a written complaint on behalf of Jagir Singh s/o Sardar Singh R/o Santokh Vihar. Kalu-Chak, Jammu, received at PS Gangyal alleging:-Registration of FIR against following persons: 1. Parshotam Singh S/O Gian Singh R/O Village Kartholi Tehsil Bari Brahmana Samba 2. Ravinder Kumar Alia Gola Shah and along with his son namely Rakshat 4. Sheikh Mehmood S/O Sheikh Ghulam Mustafa and ors that the applicant most humbly submits as under: -1 That the brother of applicant is in possession of land measuring 33 marlas following under Khewat no 13, Khata no 97 Khasra no 6min. In the jurisdiction of Chowadi (Greater Kailash) with respect to same civil suits are pending before Hon’ble court. 2. That at about 4 pm my brother received an information that in presence of police personnel along with the accused persons are trying to dispose my brother from his property.3. That the applicant along with his brother Bhabi and nephew namely Avtar Singh reached upon the spot and protected their possession.
4. That when the applicant along with the above mentioned person reached upon the spot In-charge police Post Greater Kailash was present but as the said PSI Punnet Sharma was hand in glove with Land grabbers and due to same the accused persons along with son of Gola Shah came on spot and along his goons attacked upon me my brother Balbir Singh and his son Avtar Singh with intention to kill us that to in the presence of PSI Puneet Sharma and during this attack they succeeded to inflicts grievous injuries to Avtar Singh. That I most humbly with folded hands requested you to kindly lodged an FIR against the accused persons under relevant section of law Applicant Jagir Singh dated 30-04-2024. On this instant case FIR No. 39/2024 U/S 307/323/447/147/IPC stands registered at P/S Gangyal and investigation thereof started by assigning to PSI Aaqib Lateef of PS Gangyal. Who during the course of investigation firstly visited GMC Jammu for recording the statements of victims. On reaching GMC Jammu where it was found that injured person namely, Avtar Singh S/O Balbir Singh R/o Santokh Vihar Kunjwani Jammu succumbed to his injuries and the dead body of the deceased was taken into Police Custody, through Fard Maqbuzgi Neish. 1/0 shifted the dead body of deceased in Mortuary Room for autopsy. Accordingly, 1/0 invoked offence U/S 302/IPC. Subsequently, 1/0 visited the spot, ie Lane No 27 Greater Kailash Jammu and after examining the place of occurrence, prepared site plan of place of occurrence, with help of FSL team and collected the spot evidences anc prepared Seizure Memos, recorded the statement of witnesses u/s 161 Cr.PC. Whereas, post- mortem of the deceased was also got conducted through board of Doctors at GMC Jammu and after autopsy dead body was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites under proper receipt. Thereafter a SIT was constituted under the supervision of undersigned (ASP Kartik Shrotriya-IPS) SDPO Gandhi Nagar.
After completion of investigation today challan was presented in the Court of City Judge Jammu in which It has been proved Section 302, 323, 447, 147 read with Section 120B of IPC and Section 506 IPC stand proved against Sharat Puri, Sheikh Mehmood, Ravinder Gupta, Parshotam Singh and Sachin Patiyal, Section 302 read with Section 109 IPC and Section 447, 448, 147, 427, 461, 201, 506, 34 IPC stand proved against Darvinder Pal Singh, Section 302, 323, 447, 147, 34 IPC stands proved against Suraj Singh, Section 302, 307, 323, 447, 147, 34 IPC stands proved against Varun Kumar, Section 302, 323, 447, 147 read with Section 109 IPC stands proved against Rajat Jandiyal, Section 323, 447, 147, 34 IPC stand proved against Vikas Singh, Jaypreet Singh @ Honey and Sandeep Charak, Gambhir Singh and Vishal Singh.
It is worthwhile to mention here that separate charge-sheet will be filed against Jaypreet Singh@ Honey, Vikas Singh, Poonam Kumari and Ghambir Singh as they are currently evading their arrest.
In the challan it has been submitted that the entire incident, the inaction and dereliction of duty of (then I/C PP Greater Kailash) PSI Puneet Sharma comes to note. Despite repeated pleas as per eye-witness statements, he remained busy in updating senior formations instead of discharging his lawful duty, which finally allowed the conspirators to execute their conspiracy in broad day light. His inaction is currently under scrutiny of administrative enquiry. Further investigation in his role in the instant case is underway. (JNF)
