2SW Cadets bring laurels to GGM Science College

JAMMU, July 30: Cadet Dishu Thakur of GGM Science College, 2JK Girls Bn has made College proud by scaling Mount Kang Yatse-II (6250m). She was part of NCC Boys and Girls mountaineering expedition 2024 of the NCC which surmounted the summit. This is the first time that a girl cadet from Jammu has been shortlisted for an important expedition. The cadet was initially shortlisted at the Directorate level after excelling in the basic mountaineering course at HMI Darjeeling where she received Alpha Grading. She, then, underwent rigorous physical endurance test and written assessment at the DG NCC Camp in Delhi, emerging amongst the top selected cadets from hundreds of participants.
SUO Pritty Manyotra of GGM Science College, 2 JK Girls Bn has also made college proud by representing J&KL Directorate at National Level in IDSSC 2024. Inter Directorate Sports shooting Championship (IDSSC) is an all India level sports shooting competition that include various categories of shooting and stages of completion that allow cadet to explore themselves outside their comfort zone. IDSSC 2024 was held at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu from 2nd July 2024 to 15th July 2024 where SUO Pritty Manyora got a chance to represent J&KL directorate. She has participated in 50M-Peep sight 3P event. She was initially shortlisted on unit level. The selection session went on for 3 months from April to June at NTA Nagrota shooting range.
These significant achievement of cadets were made possible by the timely support and guidance of ANO, Dr. Shafia Saleem. The Worthy Principal of the College Prof.(Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta praised Cadet Dishu Thakur and Pritty Manyotra (SUO) for their dedication and efforts of the ANO Dr Shafia Saleem, who has been instrumental in preparing them for this feat.
