Jammu, Aug 5: Two days after The Early Times reported that former minister Usman Majid has opened a floodgate in the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, one more former legislator quit the party.
Noor Mohammad Sheikh, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly from Batamaloo and the District President of Srinagar has resigned from the party.
Noor Mohammad confirmed the resignation without disclosing his future plans.
Sheikh was earlier associated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the Apni Party.
As reported by The Early Times in its August 3 edition, resignation of Usman Majid has opened a floodgate in the four-year-old Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party.
Not only Usman Majid many leaders in the J&K Apni Party are exploring possibilities in other political parties. As reported earlier after the debacle

Two days after The Early Times news report, one more former legislator, Noor Mohammad Sheikh quit the party.
Sheikh before joining the Apni Party was associated with the People’s Democratic Party.
Apni Party had contested elections on two Lok Sabha seats but its candidates failed to get respectable votes.

The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party was formed on 8 March 2020 by ex-members of the PDP and Congress which included ex-ministers and former legislators. Altaf Bukhari was elected as the party's first president and Usman Majid was elected as vice-president.
On Thursday Apni Party received a severe setback when Usman Majid along with hundreds of his supporters resigned from the party.
All units of the Apni Party in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district have decided to resign from the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party.
