Awareness program on Anti-Ragging held

UDHAMPUR, Aug 10: Anti- Ragging Committee of Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur organized an Awareness Programme in collaboration with District Court, Udhampur on “Anti-Ragging” under the able guidance of the principal of the college, Prof. Nalini Pathania. Newly selected Munsif (Judge Junior Division) Mr. Prashant Kumar was the Resource Person on the occasion. He was accompanied by a Para Legal Volunteer, Mr. Sham Sharma.
The programme began with the welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, Convenor of Anti- Ragging Committee of the college. She advised the students not to involve themselves in ragging in any form in the college as well as outside the college premises.
After that, the Resource Person, Mr. Prashant Kumar delivered his lecture. He gave detailed information about the rules, regulations and disadvantages related to the Ragging in the institutions. He exhorted upon the need of understanding these rules by the students to avoid such kind of disquieting and distressing Practices in the educational institutions. He also informed the students of the procedure of lodging the complaints by the students if they become the victims of Ragging. Principal of the college congratulated the Committee for organizing such a thought-provoking lecture and hoped that the lecture will be helpful for guiding and directing the students to prevent this traumatic practice that can have severe Physical and Psychological consequences. She warned them that anyone caught ragging in any form, will be punished accordingly.
Almost one hundred and fifty students and other staff members were present on the occasion. Question-answer session also took place in which students cleared their doubts by asking various questions from the resource person related to the field. Students felt satisfied after getting their queries cleared by the resource person. The session was anchored by Miss Samridhi, ambassador of the college.
