NCB busts two inter-state Drug Trafficking Gangs 2 Narcotics traffickers arrested by NCB Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 3: In the wake of upcoming Legislative Assembly elections, NCB has geared up its preparation to tackle the drug menace and its possible misuse in the election scenario. Being the national nodal agency for drug law enforcement, it has committed itself to stop the supply of drugs in the region.
Keeping on its commitment, last week NCB Jammu seized huge cache of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in its two cases. Till now, 04 persons have been arrested in connection with these cases.
On a specific information, on 27.08.24, NCB Jammu Zonal Unit recovered and seized 3000 Nos of Alprazolam Tablets, 14106 Nos of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus (Tramadol) Capsules, 221 Bottles of Codeine based Cough Syrup (100 ml each) and Approx 5 Litres of Codeine based Cough syrup in water bottles at Near Zamindara Dhaba, Ring Road, Samba, J&K from the possession of 02 accused persons namely Mohd Abbas Bhat, S/o Nazir Ahmad Bhat R/o Noorpora, Pulwama, J&K and Zahoor Ahmad Shah R/o Takeya, Ghulab Bagh, Pulwama, J&K, who were arrested in this connection. The receiver of the seized drugs namely Sareed Ahmad Ganie S/o Abdul Rasheed Ganie r/o Anantnag, J&K-19210 has been arrested on 03.09.2024.
On a specific information, on 31.08.2024, NCB Jammu seized 25 bottles of Codeine based Cough Syrup (100 ml each) and 5760 nos. of Spasmo Proxyvon (Tramadol) capsules at Lakhanpur. The said seized drug was to be received by Asif Ishtiyaq s/o Ishtiyaq Ahmed r/o Tantrypora, Srinagar, who has been arrested by NCB Jammu on 03.09.2024.
NCB Jammu is keeping its commitment to check flow of drugs by conducting seizure operations, surprise checks, conducting financial investigation and seizing/freezing of illegally acquired properties and getting PITNDPS orders issued against the habitual offenders. Information against drug trafficking may be shared with NCB on its toll-free MANAS helpline at 1933.
