Congress in dilemma after Satish flexes muscle for Chhamb seat

Jammu, Sept 7: Satish Sharma, son of two-time Lok Sabha member from Jammu seat late Madan Lal Sharma, has exhibited his strength by organizing an impressive show on Friday.
By showing his strength Satish Sharma has given a clear message to the Congress leadership that ignoring him for the Chhamb assembly segment would be disastrous for the party in two Assembly seats of Akhnoor sub-division.
Sources said that a group within the Congress party was working round the clock to deny the party mandate to Satish Sharma on the Chhamb Assembly segment which is a citadel of his family.
“Due to pressure of a senior leader Congress leadership has almost decided to deny party mandate to Satish Sharma from this seat”, sources said.

After the demise of his father Madan Lal Sharma, Satish Sharma has been working in this Assembly segment to carry forward the legacy of his father who has held in this segment.
Before the Chhamb assembly segment was reserved for the SC, this seat was a stronghold of the late Madan Lal Sharma. He won election on this seat in the 1983 and 1987 Assembly elections.
In 1996 this Assembly segment was reserved for the SC and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand won three successive Assembly elections of 1996, 2002, and 2008.
Now this Assembly segment has opened for general category and Satish Sharma to take claim on the legacy of his late father.
