Early Times Report
KATHUA, Sept 10: In a unique initiative to promote active participation in the upcoming Assembly Elections, AC Hiranagar today connected the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program with the practice of yoga.
The event, titled Yoga for SVEEP, was held at ITI Hiranagar, with participants from diverse sectors, including young voters, booth-level officers, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and CRPF personnel.
During the event, the message of 'Yoga karmasu kaushalam - excellence in action is yoga' was embraced by all, tying this philosophy to the electoral duties encouraged under SVEEP.
Principal ITI Hiranagar and AERO Hiranagar were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, they emphasized the importance of the SVEEP campaign in raising awareness among voters about their rights and responsibilities. AERO Hiranagar specifically addressed the availability of postal ballots, urging citizens to turn out in large numbers and vote responsibly.
The yoga session included a series of breathing exercises and other postures aimed at promoting overall well-being, providing participants with a moment of reflection and focus as they prepare for their role in the electoral process.
In addition, GHSS Chakra hosted an impressive event for electoral literacy, where students formed a human chain spelling out "SVEEP" and took part in an awareness rally. Other schools across the region also joined in the efforts: GHS Sherpur held a slogan competition and a tattoo-writing activity focused on the right to vote, while GHSS Hiranagar organized an awareness lecture on electoral literacy and featured a "Wall of Democracy," where future voters posted messages.
