Government Polytechnic Jammu organised debate and painting competition

JAMMU, Sept 19: Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk Jammu today organised a Debate and Painting Competition in the College on the Theme Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World as a part of Engineer Day celebrations in which 55 students of various departments participated. The programme started with Principal Er. Arun Bangotra and HODs, faculty paying the rich tributes to one of the great Engineer of India Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. While speaking on the occasion Chief guest worthy Principal Er. Arun Bangotra emphasize the need for sustainable practices that balance economic, social, and environmental concerns. He said the aim is to have a society where living conditions and resources meet human needs without undermining planetary integrity. Er. Ajay Thapa, Lecturer Mech. Engg. also spoke on the topic quoting examples from day to day life and also highlighted the drawbacks and problems of development sustainable angle. In the debate competition about 35 students spoke on the topic with great enthusiasm. Rumanya Sharma 1st Semester Civil Engineering was adjudged the best speaker, Karuna of 3rd semester student civil Engineering stood 2nd and Mehak Devi of MLT 3rd semester got 3rd place among the winners. In the painting competition Mahima Gupta and Athrav Mahajan of Architecture Dept. and Nikhil Singh Electrical Dept, Sam Sagar Mansor and Gurpreet Singh were among the best painters displaying their skills in portraying the sustainabily under the guidance of faculty members Manu Rajput, Demonstrator, Himani Dubey (Architecture Dept. ) & Itika Sharma from Electrical Department. The programme was hosted by Er. Sakshi Kapahi Lecturer and Sh. Chamel Singh PEM. Sh. Dheeraj Kumar (Lecturer) NSS Program officer presented the vote of thanks. Other present on the occasion were Er. Manjit Singh HOD Electrical , Sh. Sanjay Koul HOD Computer Engineering , Er. Raj Shekhar HOD Automobile Engineering and Sh. Amit Sharma Incharge Travel & Tourism.
