Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: In a remarkable show of community service, JK Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (JKDFC) collaborated with the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, and the Blood Transfusion Department of GMCH Jammu to organize a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on September 27, 2024, marking National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
Held under the esteemed leadership of Hon'ble Lt. Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha, who is also the Hon'ble President of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K-UT, and supervised by Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K, the event received an overwhelming response. Many volunteers stepped forward to contribute to this noble cause, with a total of 57 units of blood collected during the camp.
National Voluntary Blood Donation Day serves as a platform to spread awareness about the critical need for regular, voluntary blood donations and to encourage more people to become lifelong donors. The collaboration between JKDFC, the Indian Red Cross Society, and GMCH Jammu highlights their commitment to saving lives and promoting the culture of blood donation in the Union Territory (UT).
During the event, Dr. Neeti Sushil Sharma, representing the Blood Bank, Jammu, emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation in healthcare. "Blood donation is one of the most selfless acts of humanity. Every unit of blood donated has the potential to save lives," she said.
Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer of the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, extended heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their invaluable contribution to the success of the camp. The overall camp was managed under the supervision of Ms. Navneet Madaan, Assistant General Manager, JKDFC Ltd., who ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
This initiative reflects the dedication of these organizations to supporting healthcare services and promoting regular blood donation to help save lives.
