LPU hosts 15 political leaders & educationists from Alabama State, USA

Jalandhar, Oct 3: In an effort to strengthen relations between India and the USA, LPU hosted the USA-India Leadership and Education Summit 2024. Fifteen esteemed senators and educators from Alabama State, USA shared insights on how academic collaboration can foster these ties, focusing on teacher exchanges, joint academic programs, and cooperative research initiatives.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, along with Pro Chancellor Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal. Honored guests included Senator Arthur Orr (Chairman of EFT-Limestone, Madison, Morgan), Bobby Singleton (Minority Leader of Alabama Senate), Donnie Chesteen (Education Policy Chairman Geneva, Houston), Jay Hovey (State Senate-Lee, Russell, Tallapoosa), and Rt. Gerald Dial (ALIEEP co-founder, Former Alabama State Senator).
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal highlighted the importance of this summit, noting LPU's plans to collaborate with several universities in the USA and Alabama.
He emphasized that partnerships with top-ranking American institutions will significantly enhance LPU's educational offerings.
Senator Arthur Orr underscored the urgent need for talented STEM educators in Alabama and the potential benefits of student exchange programs. He acknowledged India's global strengths in GDP, high-tech manufacturing, and education, expressing a commitment to deepen ties and foster reciprocal opportunities for students and educators.
This collaborative initiative aims to facilitate educator exchanges and internships, enhance cross-cultural diversity, and improve educational experiences. By focusing on recruiting STEM teachers from India, aligning curricula, and promoting joint research projects, this partnership will advance education and enhance career prospects for students in both regions.
Others attendees included Hon. Prince Chestnut (Alabama House of Representatives Dallas & Perry), Dr. Eric Mackey (Alabama State Superintendent of Education), Dr. Srinivas Javangula (Alabama State Director of Data and Research), Dr. Walter Gonsoulin (Superintendent, Jefferson County schools), Mr. Chresal Threadgill (Mobile County Public Schools Superintendent), Dr. Kerry J Palmer (Troy University's Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs); Dr. Govind Menon (Director, School of Science and Technology, TROY University); Dr. Reenay Rogers (Associate Dean, College of Education, University of West Alabama); Ms. Meesoon Han (Executive Director, ALIEEP); Ms. Akali fulmer (Director of International Relations, ALIEEP/University of West Alabama) and LPU's Vice President, Dr. Aman Mittal, also participated.
