CHENANI, Oct 10: In observance of World Mental Health Day, Government Degree College (GDC) Chenani organized a comprehensive Legal Awareness Camp today, focusing on the legal aspects of mental health. The event was conducted under the charismatic leadership of Prof. Rajesh Gupta, Principal of the College, who emphasized the importance of understanding legal rights related to mental health.
The camp featured renowned legal expert M.M. Bhat, who delivered an informative session on various legal provisions pertaining to mental health, including the Mental Healthcare Act, rights of individuals with mental health issues, and the role of legal frameworks in promoting mental well-being. His engaging presentation highlighted the significance of mental health awareness in fostering a supportive community and ensuring the protection of rights for those affected by mental health challenges.
Participants included students, faculty members, all eager to learn about the intersection of mental health and law. The event fostered an open dialogue on the importance of mental health awareness and the legal protections available to individuals facing mental health issues. The camp concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage directly with M.M. Bhat and gain further insights into the legal dimensions of mental health. The proceedings of the program were carried out by Prof. Aditya Sharma, Assistant Professor of Sociology, who ensured a smooth flow of the event and facilitated engaging discussions among participants.
