World Mental Health Day observed at GHS Dablehar

JAMMU, Oct 10: 'THE - SARA' a Registered Non-Governmental Organization in collaboration with Counseling Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu celebrated World Mental Health Day at Government Higher Secondary School Dablehar Jammu. World Mental Health is a global platform dedicated to the promotion of mental health education and support.
To address the growing concern of mental health among students a range of activities like yoga session, debate competition and poster making were held in the school. During the programme field volunteer at 'THE - SARA' Ms. Anita Solanki, a certified Yoga teacher and evaluator, mental health wellness instructor from the Ministry of Ayush conducted a yoga session to help students in concentrating, maintain emotional well-being and their physical health. Subsequently debate competition was held in which students delivered speeches on the significance of the day and various other topic pertaining to mental health. Karanvir from class 11 bagged first position, Aryan from class 11 bagged second position and Gayatri and Ridhima jointly shared third position. For poster making Vedika, Anita, Himsu and Arti were declared winners.
Head Counseling Cell Directorate of School Education Jammu Dr. Romesh Sharma during the programmer provided valuable insights into coping with mental health issues among the students and significance of addressing these concerns. Director 'THE - SARA' Dr. Raminder Jit Singh stressed the importance of providing necessary support and guidance to help students navigate their mental well-being throughout the year. Activity based session was also conducted by Deepshikha Sharma and Shaunak Verma field volunteers with 'THE - SARA'.
Earlier Principal of the school Mrs. Irwinder Kour welcomed the team members of 'THE - SARA'. She appreciated the contribution of the NGO and emphasized more such awareness programmes shall be conducted in the school in near future. At the end prize distribution ceremony was held Karan Veer, Aryan and and Gaytri refreshments were also distributed among the students.
