GCOE Observes World Mental Health Day

Jammu, Oct 10: The Psychological Counselling Cell in collaboration with the Literary Club and Physical Education Department of the college organized a series of impactful events on World Mental Health Day. The celebrations aimed to raise awareness about mental health. The event was graced by Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal of the college. Dr. Shahnawaz Choudhary and RJ Juhie from Big 92.7 FM served as the Guests of Honor on the occasion.
Dr. Ambica Kumari, Convener of the Psychological Cell delivered the welcome address. In her speech, she emphasized the crucial role of mental health in today’s world and encouraged society to work collectively to reduce the stigma and effects surrounding mental health issues. The event featured three major activities: a Poster-Making Competition, a Skit Competition, and Speech event, all revolving around the theme of mental health. Students from B.Ed. Semester 1 and the ITEP Course actively participated, showcasing their creativity and dedication.
In the Poster-Making Competition, the winners were Simran Gupta (1st place), Varleen Kour (2nd place) and Muskan Chib (3rd place). Consolation prizes were awarded to Meenakshi, Janvi Gupta, and Dhanu Sharma for their exceptional work. The competition was judged by Ms. Renu from IMFA and RJ Juhie. Skit Competition brought forward thought-provoking performances on mental health awareness. B.Ed. Semester 1, Section A, secured the first prize, while ITEP students were the runners-up, and B.Ed. Semester 1, Section C, bagged the third prize. The skit competition was adjudged by RJ Juhie and Dr. Shahnawaz Choudhary.
Dr Jyoti Parihar , in her address, motivated the students to keep a positive attitude in their life and share their problems with their parents and teachers who are always ready to help them.
Dr Shalini Rana, IQAC Convener applauded the efforts of the students and organizers in her address. In their closing remarks, both Guests of Honor lauded the efforts of the students and faculty in organizing such a meaningful and creative event. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof Kiran Thapa.She acknowledged the hard work of the Psychological Counselling Cell members Ms. Anuradha Choudhary, Prof. Balwan Singh, Dr. Suraj PrakashDr. Rakesh Bharti, Prof. Ramandeep Kralia and Dr. Sonam Gandotra.
Other distinguished faculty members who attended the event were Prof. Sunanda Rani, Dr Rajinder Kour, Prof Satish Sharma, Dr. Shalika Gupta, Dr Sushma Bala, Dr Devinder Kour, Dr. Shalini Sharma, Prof. Priyanka Mahajan and Prof. Roopa Kumari, Prof Sarita. The anchors of the program were Anchors Meenali and Suyanshi.
