Uphold peace initiatives set by Modi Govt in J&K: Kavinder to Omar Govt
10/16/2024 10:06:26 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 16: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta expressed hope that the new government led by Omar Abdullah will continue to uphold the peace initiatives established by the Modi government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued today, the BJP stalwart emphasized "Omar Abdullah has taken oath as the first Chief Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, and we hope that his administration will not implement the agenda of releasing stone pelters, as was promised during the election campaign." He further added that the government must cooperate with the Centre to ensure the region remains peaceful and secure, continuing the trajectory set by the Modi government.
The senior BJP leader underscored the need for balanced development across all regions and communities. He noted that previous governments led by the National Conference and Congress had a history of discriminating against Jammu and Ladakh, favoring certain areas over others. "The Modi government has demonstrated a model of inclusive development, ensuring that no section of society or region is left behind. We hope that the new NC-Congress coalition will adopt a similar approach and work towards the holistic progress of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh," he said.
Kavinder reiterated that the priority should be on development, peace, and security. He urged the newly formed government to focus on enhancing infrastructure, boosting tourism, and creating job opportunities for the youth in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that any attempt to appease disruptive elements could undo the progress made in recent years, and it is crucial for the administration to act responsibly.
The former deputy Chief Minister hoped that the new government would live up to the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "The onus is now on the new government to ensure that their actions align with the aspirations of the people. We look forward to a government that puts the welfare of the citizens first, without bias or partiality," he added
