SHTM JU releases 1st Edition of Travanama

Jammu, Oct 16: School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), University of Jammu launched the first edition of its annual newsletter – TRAVANAMA. Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu released the newsletter at a special ceremony held in his office.
Prof Umesh Rai lauded the efforts put in by the faculty and students of the SHTM in creating a comprehensive and informative newsletter that highlights the significant achievements, novel initiatives, and various academic activities conducted by the department. He further encouraged the team to explore various entrepreneurial and industry oriented initiatives which benefit the students as tourism sector has immense national and regional opportunities.
Prof Alka Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies shared that SHTM through its student centric activities and practices has been able to make significant impact. She further emphasized that with the introduction of travel and tourism courses at the Under Graduate Level, which has already been approved by the Academic Council and Syndicate of University, students will be able to leverage the opportunities in the sector.
Prof. Anil Gupta, Director, SHTM, while expressing gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and University administration said that SHTM is committed to strengthen industry – academia linkages, upgrade curriculum as per industry expectations and also focus on experiential learning in the spirit of NEP-2020.
The event was attended by Prof Shyam Narayan Lal, Prof Garima Gupta, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Dr Suvidha Khanna. In addition, faculty members including Dr. Nikita Dogra, Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Dr. Honeyka Mahajan, Tapas Tandon, Taniya Sharma and staff including Charu Magotra, Pawan Sharma and Sachin Thapa were also present.
