Chief Justice visits Kupwara, inspects judicial infrastructure, construction works on District court complex

KUPWARA, Oct 19: In order to give impetus to the Judicial Infrastructure, Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority, Tashi Rabstan, visited Kupwara on Saturday and inspected the judicial infrastructure while assessing the ongoing construction works on district court complex, Kupwara.
On his arrival at Kupwara, Justice Tashi Rabstan, who was accompanied by M.K. Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice, was accorded ceremonial Guard of Honour and warm reception by Shazia Tabasum , Principal District & Sessions Judge Kupwara; Khem Raj Sharma, Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court); Sub Judge, Muneer Hussain; Munsiff Kupwara, Iram Irtaza; SSP Kupwara, Gh.Jeelani Wani; CPO Kupwara, Parvaiz Ahmed; President District Bar Association Kupwara, Adv.Ahraz Ahmed Dar and members of bar.
While interacting with the District judiciary, the Chief Justice underscored the paramount need for developing robust judicial infrastructure and ensuring a safe and conducive environment for effective and speedy justice. He expressed commitment towards promoting an inclusive and responsive judicial system that meets the evolving needs of society.
Principal District & Session Judge, Kupwara, Shazia , extended her sincere gratitude to the Chief Justice for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment towards development of judicial infrastructure.
The Chief Justice inspected e-filing counter and took first hand appraisal of status of cases.
The Chief Justice inspected the court room of District & Sessions Judge Kupwara and interacted virtually with under trials of Sub Jail Kupwara and sought feedback regarding facilities being provided to under trials.
He also inspected Sub-Judge Court and e-Court Kupwara where he took stock of infrastructure.
The Chief Justice distributed cheques of victim compensation under MACT (Motor Accident Claims Tribunal) claim among Haleema Begum, Jana Begum, and Rifat Begum.
He, later, inspected the ongoing construction of 3-storied building of new Court Complex Kupwara which is being constructed by JK Housing board with a project cost of Rs.12.50 crore. He directed the executing agency to speed up the pace of work so that the project is completed at an earliest.
Earlier, the Chief Justice participated in a plantation drive at District Court complex Kupwara and planted Chinar and Deodar saplings as part of environmental conservation efforts to highlight commitment towards environment sustainability, afforestation and combating climate change.
