Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 20: The newly appointed Cabinet Minister in the Omar Abdullah government Satish Sharma today said that for the last four years Congress leaders, from the president to former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, tortured him brutally to end his political career.
While referring to the demise of his father and former Congress stalwart Madan Lal Sharma, he said, “Four years have passed after the death of MP Sahib and during this period Congress leaders tortured me at every front”.
Notably Satish Sharma was first denied a Congress mandate for the District Developmental Council (DDC) elections in 2020 from Khour and in the 2024 assembly elections he was denied the party as MLA at the eleventh hour.
“See the destiny, just two months we were uncertain about our fate because we were neither confirmed about the party mandate as these leaders were hatching conspiracies against me”, he said while addressing the first rally in his Assembly segment of Chhamb after inducting as Minister in the Omar Abdullah’s cabinet.

before you today as the newly appointed Cabinet Minister in Omar Abdullah's government, humbled and grateful for the trust placed in me. My journey to this position has been tumultuous, marked by struggles and hardships”, he said.
Important to mention here that Satish Sharma was denied a Congress mandate at the cost of former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand. Instead of giving a mandate to Satish Sharma senior Congress leaders hatched a conspiracy to favour Tara Chand who was pushed to third place in the constituency.
Satish Sharma who emerged victorious as an Independent MLA from the Chhamb assembly said that over four to five thousand of his supporters mistakenly voted for Congress because they had a habit of voting for Congress party.
“As I assume this ministerial role, I urge my supporters to hold me accountable and ensure I remain untainted by the power vested in me. I pledge to prioritize the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, striving for the restoration of statehood and addressing pressing issues accumulated over the past decade”, he said.
