AKHNOOR, Oct 30: Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Akhnoor, Mohan Lal, chaired an introductory meeting with subdivision and sectoral officers from the Akhnoor administration. The meeting was attended by SDM Akhnoor Shubhankar Pathak (IAS), Tehsildar Akhnoor Naresh Kumar, Tehsildar Jourian Bansi Lal, Tehsildar Maira Mandrian Afsha Afreen, along with Executive Engineers from key departments including PWD, Irrigation, Flood Control, and PDD, as well as other officials. SDM Shubhankar Pathak (IAS) provided a comprehensive overview of the development trajectory within the constituency, focusing on progress in government-led development and welfare initiatives. He reported on the fiscal year's Capex Budget expenditure, noting that the remaining projects are being expedited following the recent Assembly elections. The meeting primarily reviewed the status of projects funded under the District CAPEX budget, which includes grants from the District Development Council (DDC), Block Development Council (BDC), and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI). Officers from various departments, including Public Health Engineering (PHE), Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Development Department (RDD), Irrigation, Flood Control, Forest, Urban Development, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, ICDS, and Health, provided updates on current initiatives. MLA Mohan Lal emphasized the need for a compassionate approach in addressing the needs of marginalized communities and ensuring that welfare schemes benefit the most vulnerable. He instructed officers to provide public services promptly as mandated under the Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA), stating, "Public service is our highest priority, and we must ensure that people do not suffer." He further directed the Executive Engineer of Flood Control to create a comprehensive plan for channeling the Chenab River and asked SDM Akhnoor to address the defense land compensation issue affecting farmers, ensuring swift resolution. Regarding sanitation, Mohan Lal noted concerns about unhygienic public washrooms in specific areas within Akhnoor town. He directed the Municipal Committee (MC) of Akhnoor to ensure the cleanliness of all public facilities and maintain the town's streets. Additionally, he urged all departments to maintain punctuality and avoid any delays in resolving public grievances. "I will personally monitor each department to ensure transparency and accountability," he affirmed.
