POONCH, Nov 4: The Indian Army has launched a stitching and tailoring course in the remote area of Thanamandi, Poonch District, as part of its ongoing efforts to empower women through skill development and economic independence. This initiative aims to equip women with essential tailoring skills, fostering self-reliance and providing them with viable employment opportunities. The course has attracted women from Gambhir village, who are being trained by local female instructors with expertise in tailoring. The community has played a pivotal role in this initiative, offering a venue for the classes and demonstrating a strong bond with the Indian Army.
Equipped with sewing machines, raw materials, and necessary accessories, the training center is designed to facilitate community development and enhance the socio-economic status of the rural population. As the course progresses, participants are actively learning new skills and techniques that can be applied in their daily lives.
