11/7/2024 10:24:59 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 7: A delegation of Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market under the Presidentship of Deepak Gupta, President met Devansh Yadav (IAS), Commissioner JMC in his office on Thursday. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the problems faced by traders of Ware House Nehru Market. During the meeting Mr. Deepak Gupta submitted a memorandum highlighting the problems faced by traders. Asking for immediate fogging in the Jammu's Biggest wholesale grain mandi, Deepak Gupta said that the outbreak of dengue is continuously increasing and the outbreak of dengue is also expected to increase further in the coming days. At present, more than five thousand workers work in our market, most of whom sleep in the open in the market at night. In such a situation, the risk of these workers being affected is increasing significantly. So far, four to five cases of dengue have been reported in Mandi. In such a situation, regular fogging should be done in the market so that the workers and employees working in the market can be protected from this deadly disease. Highlighting the deteriorating condition of drains and deep drains of the mandi, Gupta said that The drains and deep drains in the biggest wholesale grain market of Jammu are in deteriorating condition. Traders have to bear heavy losses during every rainy season because of water logging in their shops. "The deep digging of the drains which remained choked with filth and litter causing overflowing of dirty water in the area creating unhygienic conditions and dustbins should be installed at the various points of the mandi". He suggested.
Requesting to increase the manpower in mandi, he said that in the last few years the market has expanded a lot and the business activities has also increased. Every day thousands of people come here from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. It is natural for garbage to spread in such a busy area, but today due to shortage of sanitation workers, complete cleanliness in the market is not possible. Due to lack of cleaning staff, there is garbage throughout the day. Due to uncleanliness, there is a possibility of diseases spreading here. Therefore, Gupta demanded that the number of sanitation workers in the market should be increased so that the cleanliness system can be improved. Deepak Gupta said that there are more than 500 shops in this market and more than five thousand workers and employees are working in the grain mandi. Apart from this, thousands of people from outside areas come here every day for shopping. Despite this, the provision of public toilets is very limited due to which everyone is facing problems. Under the Smart City project, a public toilet was constructed in Nehru Market but there were no septic tank attached to it. The waste was dumped outside into the drain. The drains of the area were already closed, hence the filth spread further and the toilet was forced to be closed. He demanded that a septic tank should be made for that toilet so that it can be used. Apart from this, there is a great need for public toilets in Shiv Market and KC Market and toilets should be constructed there on priority.
Gupta further said that the oldest wholesale market is gripped with darkness as most of the lights in the area are in damaged condition. He requested to install High Mast Lights at least five in number and install new street lights by removing the damaged lights lying in unworkable conditions in the area.
Munish Mahajan, Sr. Vc. President, Abhimanyu Gupta, Vc. President and Vishal Gupta, Secretary of the Federation were also present during the meeting.
