Sajad accuses NC, BJP of orchestrating 'fixed match' in Assembly to befool people | SPECIAL STATUS RESOLUTION | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 7: Notwithstanding the ruckus created by the opposition members in the Legislative Assembly over passing the resolution seeking the “special status” for Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples’ Conference leader and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone alleged that Wednesday’s episode in the House was nothing but a fixed match between the National Conference and the BJP to protect each other political interests. “If the National Conference is so serious about restoring the pre-August 5, 2019 position in J&K, the coalition should support our resolution which we have moved today”, Lone said while introducing a fresh resolution along with PDP and AIP. On Thursday the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples’ Conference (PC), and Awami Itteehad Party (AIP) introduced a new resolution in the Legislative Assembly, demanding the full restoration of Articles 370 and 35-A. This fresh resolution, jointly signed by three PDP MLAs, Sajad Lone of PC, and Sheikh Khurshid of AIP, aims to “correct” what they see as weaknesses in the coalition’s previous resolution. Sajad Lone, leader of the Peoples’ Conference, criticized the National Conference’s resolution, calling it a “weak” move that, in his words, “humiliates and betrays the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those in the Kashmir Valley.” Lone alleged that Wednesday’s session was a “fixed match” between the National Conference and the opposition BJP to deceive the public. "The resolution we introduced today is truly the people's resolution," Lone stated. "It not only demands the restoration of Articles 370 and 35-A but also rejects all provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Acts imposed after August 5, 2019. Our r Episode in the House was nothing but a fixed match between the National Conference and the BJP to protect the political interests of each other. If the NC is so serious about restoring the pre-August 5, 2019 position in J&K, then it should support our resolution which we have moved today. The fresh resolution aims to “correct” the weaknesses in the previous resolution. The resolution introduced by us is truly the people's resolution. solution further condemns Parliament’s actions of August 5, 2019.” Flanked by three PDP MLAs, an Independent legislator, and the AIP MLA, Lone challenged the National Conference to prove that the recent events were not part of a “fixed match.” He asserted, “Our resolution reflects the true aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir’s residents. The coalition should either support our resolution or submit a new one with the same clear demands. If they fail, it will confirm suspicions of a fixed match between the NC and BJP.” He also added that if the National Conference introduced a fresh, unambiguous resolution similar to theirs, he and his colleagues would support it wholeheartedly and even apologize for accusing the coalition of staging a fixed match. Lone encouraged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to voice their views on the resolution using social media platforms. The new resolution strongly condemns the “unconstitutional and unilateral” abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A and the enactment of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, by the Government of India. The signatories argue that these actions stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and statehood, infringing upon constitutional assurances granted to the region and its people. The resolution calls for the immediate restoration of Articles 370 and 35-A in their original, unaltered forms and demands the reversal of all changes brought by the 2019 Reorganisation Act. The leaders behind this resolution urge the Government of India to uphold the constitutional and democratic integrity of Jammu and Kashmir by reinstating provisions intended to preserve the region's unique identity, culture, and political autonomy. |
