JKTJAC holds monthly meeting
11/10/2024 9:31:00 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Nov 10: The Jammu Kashmir Teachers' Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) held its monthly meeting at Udhampur under the leadership of UT President Vinod Sharma and District President Lekh Raj Parihar. The meeting was attended by JKTJAC executive members and representatives from all eleven zones of the district. Vinod Sharma addressed the gathering, demanding the resolution of pressing issues affecting the teaching community, particularly teachers appointed under the ReT (Rehbar-e-Taleem) scheme. He appealed to the newly formed government to implement Government Order No. 469 Edu of 2014, which mandates the inclusion of five years of ReT service for seniority benefits and transfer rights. He also emphasized the need for the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme for employees appointed after 2010, arguing that the current National Pension System (NPS) deprives teachers of post-retirement benefits.
Other key demands raised by Sharma included:
Regularization of ReTs who have completed five years of service
Conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III
Cash-in-lieu benefits for teachers
Conversion of headteacher posts to non-plan posts of masters
Holding another Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) for teachers to masters
Adjustment of recently promoted masters
Release of time-barred arrears
Raising teacher grades to match counterparts in other UTs
Granting earned leave to teachers involved in summer/winter camps
Filling vacancies of ZEOs, Principals, and Headmasters in headless zones/schools
Lekh Raj Parihar urged the Chief Education Officer of Udhampur to release pending Mid-Day Meal (MDM) dues and address the incomplete service records and other outstanding payments affecting teachers in the district.
Other speakers included Sham Sharma, Sukesh Khajuria, Ashok Seth, and many others, who collectively voiced concerns over the welfare of teachers and the need for immediate government intervention.
