Cong dumps Art 370, NC says no one can misinterpret special status resolution
NC lacks transparency on critical issue, says Sajad Lone

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15: All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge and J&K Congress Chief Tariq Hameed Karra’s remarks that the demand for restoration of Article 370 was not raised in the resolution passed by the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly has triggered a debate.
Soon after Kharge and Karra declared that “Article 370 is a closed chapter,” National Conference Member Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi took to X and wrote: “No INC president or JKPCC president has a right to misinterpret the resolution passed by the J&K Legislative Assembly in the last session. The purpose of that resolution is to express the people’s disapproval of all the amendments and unconstitutional abrogation of the guaranteed (Special) Status of J&K from the year 1953 to 2019.”
Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly last week in its first session, passed a resolution on special status, seeking a “dialogue” with the J&K’s elected representatives for restoration of the same as well as constitutional guarantees.
As the NC and Congress issued contradictory statements on the resolution passed by the J&K Assembly, president of the Peoples Conference, Sajad Lone called on the National Conference (NC)
AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge declares “Article 370 is a closed chapter.
No INC president or JKPCC president has a right to misinterpret the special status resolution passed by the J&K Assembly.
Even if anyone from within @JKNC_ tries to misinterpret the resolution he will be rejected.
Now even Kharge, has clarified that they never talked about getting Article 370 back, NC should clarify.
to provide clarity regarding its stance on Article 370.
He expressed concern over what he termed as the “lack of transparency” from the NC on this critical issue, questioning whether the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve any clarification from the party. "Now even the All India President of Congress, Mr Mallikarjun Kharge, has clarified that they never talked about getting Article 370 back. Do the people of Jammu and Kashmir not deserve even a clarification from the National Conference?" he said.
It may be recalled that the NC-Congress fought the Assembly election in alliance. However, NC won 40 plus seats in the 90-member house and the Congress couldn’t even reach the double figures.
Meanwhile, NC Parliamentarian Ruhullah maintained that the resolution passed by J&K Assembly calls for the return of all the guarantees in their original shape and form as was operational before 1953 including Art 370 and 35A. “Let alone JKPCC or any other entity. Even if anyone from within @JKNC_ tries to misinterpret the resolution otherwise and against the wishes of the people, will be rejected and pushed by the people to a corner of irrelevance as the allies of BJP were in the last election,” he added.
