GDC Paloura organises Lecture on Heritage Awareness

JAMMU, Nov 22: Department of History, GDC Paloura organised Lecture on Heritage Awareness. The event was the part of GDC Paloura's ongoing week long programme to celebrate world heritage week. World Heritage week is celebrated every year during the last week of November. The purpose of the programme was to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting cultural and natural heritage and save the monuments of our country.
Speaking on the occasion Harsh Bhardwaj and Simran Kotwal, students of Department of History discussed about the local heritage sites of Jammu including Mubarak Mandi Complex, Dogra Art Museum and Sheikh Noor-ud din Noorani Museum. They pointed out towards mix architectural styles including European style, Mughal style and Rajasthani style used in Mubarak Mandi Complex. Through a PPT Presentation they discussed different palaces in the complex. Talking about importance of Museums which help us in preserving our heritage Simran and Harsh shared information about artifacts preserved in Dogra Art Museum and Sheikh Noor-ud din Noorani Museum.
The whole programme was organised by Prof. Vishal Magotra (HOD History), Prof. Arun Sharma and Dr. Siraj ud din under the able guidance of Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal, GDC Paoura.
