Kathua police arrests drug peddler

KATHUA, Nov 25: Continuing its relentless campaign against drug trafficking under the War on Drugs, Kathua Police achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a drug peddler and recovering approximately 11.56 grams of heroin (chitta) from his possession in the Kukey Chak area.
Acting on specific information, a police team from Police Station Kathua, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua and SHO Kathua, laid a naka (checkpoint) in the Kukey Chak area. During routine checking, a suspect identified as Ravi Kumar alias Laddi, son of Shashi Kumar, a resident of Chak Drab Khan, Tehsil and District Kathua, was apprehended while moving suspiciously from Changran towards Kukey Chak.
Upon searching the suspect, police recovered 11.56 grams of heroin, which was seized on the spot. Ravi Kumar was taken into custody, and a case has been registered under FIR No. 379/2024, U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, at Police Station Kathua. Further investigation into the case is underway.
The police have urged local residents to support the fight against drug abuse by reporting any suspicious activities or drug-related information. Kathua Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and safeguarding the community from its harmful effects.
