POWERGRID Inter-Regional Cricket Tournament 2024 kicks off in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 15: The five-day POWERGRID Inter-Regional Cricket Tournament 2024 commenced today in Jammu. Scheduled from December 14 to December 18, the event features eleven teams representing various regions of POWERGRID. The participating teams include Eastern Region-I (ER-I), Eastern Region-II (ER-II), Northern Region-I (NR-I), Northern Region-III (NR-III), Southern Region-I (SR-I), Southern Region-II (SR-II), Western Region-I (WR-I), Western Region-II (WR-II), North Eastern Region (NER), Corporate Centre (CC), and the host team, Northern Region-II (NR-II).
The tournament follows the T-20 format and will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis. The eleven teams are divided into three pools, with the top four teams after the league stage advancing to the semifinals. The finalists will compete for the championship trophy. Matches are being held at three prestigious venues: MA Stadium, University Cricket Ground, and Jammu Sports Club, Tawa, Kot-Balwal.
The tournament was inaugurated by Sh. Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director, POWERGRID Northern Region-II, in the presence of Sh. Arindham Chakraborty, CGM (Projects), NR-II, Sh. Shafat Ahmed Wani, Sr. GM (AM), Vinod P. Baxla, GM (HR), senior officials, and other dignitaries. Sh. Tarun Bajaj emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and team spirit, highlighting how such events foster a sense of camaraderie and appreciation for the culture and values of coworkers. The Army band's march past, synchronized with that of the players, captivated the audience at the inaugural ceremony.

NR-II vs. WR-II: Hosts NR-II defeated WR-II by 5 wickets.
Scores: WR-II 100 all out, NR-II 101/5 in 12.3 overs.
Man of the Match: Vinod Atri (NR-II).
ER-II vs. ER-I: ER-II triumphed over ER-I by 24 runs.
Scores: ER-II 130/3 in 15 overs, ER-I 106/6 in 15 overs.
Man of the Match: Sunil Chetri (ER-II).
MA Stadium:
NR-I vs. SR-I: NR-I defeated SR-I by a massive margin of 130 runs.
Scores: NR-I 190/8 in 20 overs, SR-I 60 all out in 14.2 overs.
Man of the Match: Bhavesh (NR-I).
CC vs. WR-I: CC beat WR-I by 78 runs.
Scores: CC 176/6 in 20 overs, WR-I 98 all out in 19.2 overs.
Man of the Match: Sandeep Panwar (CC).
Jammu Sports Club, Tawa:
SR-II vs. NR-III: SR-II emerged victorious against NR-III by 27 runs.
Scores: SR-II 112/9 in 20 overs, NR-III 85 all out in 16.3 overs.
Man of the Match: Ashutosh Shrivastava (SR-II).
