UDHAMPUR, Dec 23: To commemorate Dogri Manyta Diwas under the banner of IQAC ,Dogri Department of GCW Udhampur under the able guidance of the Principal of the college, Dr. Prof. Nalani Pathania, organized Dogri Recognition Day which is celebrated every year on December 22 as on this day in the year 2003 Dogri Language was recognized by the Parliament of India and included in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution. Prof. Shama Rani, delivered an enlightening lecture on the significance of Dogri Language to promote Dogra Culture and Dogri Language. In her compelling lecture she highlighted the origin and history of Dogri Language. Language is something that describes someone's culture and historical background. Language and Culture are intertwined. It seems that the mother 's struggle has to be carried on to saving mother tongue. We need to put our best efforts to work for the survival of Dogri Language.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation from students. They recited Dogri poems, sang a Dogri Folk song and Dogri Patriotic song. Various faculty members like Prof. Seema Sharma HOD music,Shallu Jasrotia department of music,Dr.Vijay kumari department of dogri, Dr.Santosh kumari department of Hindi were also present on this occasion.
