Ruhullah stirs ‘Hornet’s Nest’, faces boycott
Reservation Row

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 27: Senior National Conference leader and Member Parliament Aga Ruhullah seems to have stirred the “Hornet’s Nest” by staging a protest against the reservation policy outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Srinagar.
His party termed Ruhullah sitting on a protest with the “enemies” of the National Conference as his own prerogative which has got nothing to with the NC.
On Thursday Ruhullah chaired a DISHA meeting in Srinagar, which was attended by only one NC MLA from Srinagar, while others, including Salman Sagar, MLA Hazratbal, who launched a scathing attack against Ruhullah after his protest, skipped the “all important meeting.”
Responding to a query about Salman Sagar’s remarks that the protest against the reservation policy was led by enemies of the National Conference, Ruhullah defended his stance. “The biggest and most important thing that day was the reservation. The students, their reservation, their future. I am not important; no one else is important. No other issue is important,” Ruhullah told reporters.
Students, their reservation, their future is important.
I am not important; no one else is important.
The MP staging a protest has not gone well with the NC leadership.
NC MLAs staying away from Aga Ruhullah’s meeting is an indication that all is not well.

An observer while talking to Early Times said, “The NC Member Parliament staging a protest against the reservation policy has not gone well with the party leadership. It was evident on Thursday when the NC MLAs skipped the DISHA meeting chaired by Aga Ruhullah.”
When Ruhullah was asked why didn’t NC MLAs from Srinagar attend the DISHA meeting, the Member Parliament had replied that the meeting was called on a short notice and MLAs were in Jammu.
However, the NC MLAs were very much present in Srinagar and they attended a meeting at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence and discussed various issues of the Srinagar district.
MLAs Ali Muhammad Sagar, Shameema Firdous, Salman Ali Sagar , Tanvir Sadiq, Mushtaq Ahmad Guroo, and Ahsan Pardesi highlighted various issues faced by the people of Srinagar.
“ NC MLAs staying away from Aga Ruhullah’s meeting and boycotting it is an indication that Member Parliament from Central Kashmir may not get his way. Either he will have to fall in the line or do whatever he wants to independently,” the observer added.
