MANDI GOBINDGARH, Jan 10: A pivotal dialogue on raising awareness against the drug menace was held at the Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh organized by the Joshi Foundation as part of its ''Solution Through Dialogue" initiative. The event was chaired by Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, and saw the participation of prominent educationists, including Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University.
"Solution Through Dialogue" aims to create a comprehensive repository of actionable and effective ideas to combat Punjab's drug crisis.
In his keynote address, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized the critical role of education in the fight against drugs, urging educators to become catalysts for change by promoting awareness and preventive education. "The youth of Punjab are our most valuable asset and it is imperative that we protect them from the dangers of drug addiction. Education is a powerful tool in this battle, and by working together, we can create a drug-free society," he said.
The Governor called for systematic measures to address the issue, suggesting that teacher counseling programs should be initiated at the district, tehsil and block levels. He encouraged all stakeholders to remain resolute despite challenges, expressing confidence that persistent efforts would yield results. He also called for a compassionate and comprehensive approach, focusing on awareness, education, and community engagement.
The dialogue also featured key contributions from notable personalities.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, contributed to the dialogue by sharing insights on the initiatives undertaken by his institution to combat drug abuse.
