This milestone promises to redefine the region’s future by connecting communities, boosting tourism, and creating sustainable opportunities.
Sonamarg, the "Meadow of Gold," has always been a gem of the Himalayas. However, its breathtaking beauty was often limited to seasonal visitors, with winters cutting off access due to snow. That’s about to change. With the Z-Morh Tunnel opening Sonamarg to tourism year-round, it signals a long-awaited transformation for the region. Prime Minister Modi highlighted this vision during his review of preparations for the event.
"The inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel will make Sonamarg a premier ski destination while also reducing travel time to Kargil and Leh," he stated.
