NSS Unit of GDC Sidhra celebrates Lohri with Enthusiasm, Tradition

JAMMU, Jan 14: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra organized a vibrant Lohri celebration on the college premises, bringing students and staff together to mark the end of winter and the beginning of the harvest season. The festivities began with a grand bonfire, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and new beginnings. Participants gathered around the fire, offering traditional items like sesame seeds, peanuts, and roasted corns as part of the Lohri rituals. These treats were later distributed among attendees, adding to the joy of the occasion.
The event served as an educational and cultural experience, with students learning about the agricultural and cultural significance of Lohri across different regions of India. The celebration highlighted the themes of community, renewal, and gratitude, fostering an inclusive and joyous atmosphere on campus.
The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Purvaiya Hans, Program Officer of the NSS Unit, with active support from the unit members. The Principal, Dr. G.S. Rakwal, along with other staff members, graced the occasion, adding to its significance.
The celebration left everyone with cherished memories, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness and cultural pride.
