Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 14: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Jammu and Kashmir government, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his sincere efforts to bridge the gap between the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country.
Speaking at the ninth Armed Forces Veterans’ Day rally held at the Tanda Artillery Brigade in Akhnoor, Singh emphasized the BJP-led Central government’s commitment to treating Delhi and Kashmir equally. He highlighted that the policies of the government are aimed at ensuring equitable development across all regions of the country.
Rajnath Singh remarked that past regimes had treated Kashmir differently, which hindered its connection with Delhi. “Our government’s biggest achievement is working to bridge the ‘dil ki duri’ (distance between hearts) between Kashmir and the rest of the country,” he said. Singh applauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking steps to narrow any remaining gaps and fostering unity.
Bonhomie between the Union Government and the J&K Government started on Saturday when the Prime Minister endorsed the Chief Minister’s view that the inauguration of the Z-Morh tunnel will open Sonmarg to tourism all year round, Sonmarg will now be developed as a great ski resort.
"I am eagerly awaiting my visit to Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir for the tunnel inauguration. You rightly point out the benefits for tourism and the local economy", the Prime Minister posted on his social media handle in response to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's earlier post on the opening of the Z-Morh tunnel.
During the inauguration of the Z-Morh tunnel, the Chief Minister lavished praise on the Prime Minister for fulfilling the promise of conducting assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Praising the Prime Minister for fulfilling the promises of conducting Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar said people were happy with the installation of a popular government.
The historic event of the inauguration of the Z-Morh tunnel also turned out to be a positive step towards the growing warmth between the National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir and the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
At the inauguration of the Z-Morh tunnel in Sonamarg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shared the stage for the first time, signaling a warming of relations.
As Omar Abdullah heaped praise on the Prime Minister, and Modi reciprocated with thoughtful remarks that highlighted their budding camaraderie.
