Arrangements for 38th National Games Begin in Dehradun, Uttarakhand

Agencies

Dehradun, Jan 14: In preparation for the upcoming 38th National Games, a crucial meeting was held at the National Games Secretariat, Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The meeting was attended by the Chef-de-Mission (CDM) of all States/UTs, deputed by their respective Olympic Associations, with the approval of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
Er. Kiran Wattal, CDM for the Jammu & Kashmir contingent, was present at the meeting alongside other CDMs. The session was chaired by Smt. Sunaina Kumari of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), with support from Mr. Maninder Singh and Sh. Ravinder Choudhary from the Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC).
Key issues discussed included the registration process for athletes on the portal, where Er. Wattal pointed out that some sports disciplines were not yet activated, delaying registrations. He also raised concerns about the unavailability of confirmed train tickets due to pre-booking load, which could cause difficulties for athletes and officials.
Accommodation, transportation, and medical facilities for athletes were also addressed, with positive steps outlined to ensure proper arrangements. All concerns raised by Er. Wattal were supported by other CDMs and were taken seriously by the GTCC, who assured that the issues would be resolved promptly.
Additionally, Smt. Sunaina Kumari announced that the registration portal would be open for one more day, closing at midnight on January 14, 2025. Er. Wattal also sought clarification regarding the participation of dignitaries from the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, and it was decided that official communication from both the CDM and the government should be submitted in advance for smooth arrangements.
The 38th National Games will be held in Uttarakhand, and preparations are underway to ensure the event runs smoothly, with all logistical issues being addressed well in advance.
