Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Jan 24: In a significant blow to terror networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of J&K Police has attached properties worth crores belonging to 11 Pakistan-based terror commanders in the Kishtwar district.
This operation is seen as a crucial step in the state’s ongoing fight against terrorism and attempts to revive insurgency in the Chenab Valley region.
The crackdown, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Javed Iqbal and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Vishal Sharma, targeted individuals believed to be involved in orchestrating terror activities aimed at destabilizing the region. According to intelligence reports, around 36 Kishtwar-origin terrorists are currently operating from Pakistan, collaborating with terror groups to reignite violence and unrest in the valley.
The attached properties, including land and assets, are linked to commanders who have been instrumental in financing and planning terror operations from across the border. Among the individuals under investigation is Gulabu, son of Hashim Gujjar, a resident of Rahalthal Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar. He is believed to have been actively involved in aiding and abetting terror operations in collaboration with groups based in Pakistan. His identification as a key figure highlights the local connections that terrorists often exploit to fuel cross-border insurgency.
Authorities have vowed to continue their rigorous surveillance and legal action against terror-related assets, underscoring their commitment to ensuring peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir. This operation is a part of the government’s larger strategy to curb the threat posed by militancy and to dismantle terror infrastructures in the region.
With increasing pressure on terror groups operating in and around the Chenab Valley, the authorities have stressed that these actions will continue to target not only militants but also the financial channels that sustain them, sending a strong message to those looking to destabilize the region.
