Five-day skill development programme on soft computing begins at SMVDU

KATRA, Feb 3: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has officially inaugurated a Five-Day Skill Development Programme on Soft Computing and Applications, running from February 3-7, 2025. Organized by the School of Computer Science & Engineering, the programme is supported by the Higher Education Department, Government of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, aimed at imparting startup skills and practical knowledge in the domain of Soft Computing.
The initiative has attracted participants from various esteemed institutions across Jammu and Kashmir, including Central University of Jammu, UIET Kathua, University of Jammu, and MIET Jammu.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the evolution of the internet and the growing significance of soft computing in today's technological landscape. His words inspired the participants and set a positive tone for the event.
Prof. K.R. Jha, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at SMVDU, is the Coordinator of the programme, with Prof. Manoj Kumar Gupta, Dr. Pooja Sharma, and Mr. Manoj Kumar serving as Co-Coordinators. Distinguished guests included Dr. Shitala Prasad from IIT Goa and Prof. Dinesh Kumar Vishwakarma from DTU Delhi, who shared valuable insights with participants.
The programme will feature lectures by experts from premier institutes like IITs, NITs, CSIR, and JNU, as well as industry professionals. The event aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, equipping participants with cutting-edge knowledge and industry-relevant skills.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Manoj Kumar Gupta, followed by an introduction by Mr. Manoj Kumar. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pooja Sharma, Associate Professor (SoCSE). A dedicated team of student organizers, including Rajat, Rudraksh, Aditya, Tanish, Bhoomi, Arya, Achalendra, and Bigan, ensured the smooth execution of the event.
The programme promises to be a transformative experience for participants, offering a platform for learning, collaboration, and innovation in the rapidly advancing field of Soft Computing.
