Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 3: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and former Chief Minister, today met a delegation of the JKNC Women Wing from Samba at Bathindi, Jammu. The delegation was led by Rajni Devi, Provincial Working President of the JKNC Women Wing Jammu, and was accompanied by Adv. Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu. Swarn Singh Block President and DDC Bari Brahmana Suriya Begum were also present.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised Dr. Farooq Abdullah about the hardships being faced by women due to the lack of basic amenities. They expressed deep concern over the growing difficulties that women have endured in the last ten years, stating that their sufferings have increased manifold due to administrative apathy, lack of employment opportunities, and inadequate healthcare and sanitation facilities.
The women leaders highlighted several key issues, including water and electricity shortages, poor road connectivity, lack of proper healthcare facilities, and rising unemployment among women in last 10 years. They stated that despite repeated pleas to the administration, their problems had remained unaddressed, leaving women and families in distress.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that the present government headed by Omar Abdullah will take adequate measures to address these pressing concerns. He emphasized that JKNC has always been committed to the welfare of the people, particularly women’s empowerment, and will ensure that their issues are given top priority.
“The present government, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, is determined to bring much-needed relief to the people. We are committed to empowering women by ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and employment opportunities,” Dr. Farooq Abdullah asserted.
The former Chief Minister emphasized that the Popular Govt headed by Omar Abdullah will address people’s issues on priority basis. He further stated that the National Conference has always worked for women’s upliftment and will introduce progressive policies to enhance their participation in governance and economic development. He assured that schemes aimed at financial independence for women, self-help groups, and skill development programs will be strengthened.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah urged the women of Jammu and Kashmir to stand united with JKNC in the fight for justice, development, and dignity. He reaffirmed that the Party remains steadfast in its commitment to building a prosperous and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir, where women play a crucial role in shaping the future.
Rattan Lal Gupta asked the women folk to strengthen the party base and actively engage in mobilizing support at the grassroots level. He also urged them to make people aware of the National Conference’s pro-people policies and the party’s commitment to equitable development. Emphasizing the importance of upcoming elections, he called upon them to gear up for the forthcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body polls to ensure a strong NC presence in local governance.
