2/14/2025 10:08:57 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Feb 14: In a major crackdown on drug-related offenses, Udhampur Police apprehended a person in possession of narcotics and uncovered an illegal sale of banned drugs at a local pharmacy.
During routine patrolling near SKPA Udhampur on February 4, police arrested Micheal Jackson, son of Raju, a resident of Christian Colony. A search led to the recovery of 5.5 grams of a suspected heroin-like substance and 66 Pregabalin capsules. An FIR (No. 41/2025) under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered, and an investigation was launched.
Further inquiries traced the source of the banned Pregabalin capsules to Sai Medicos Chemist and Druggist, located near the Forest Office in Udhampur. Operating under Drug Licence No. JK-UDH-113644, the pharmacy was found illegally selling Schedule H1 drugs without prescriptions.
A joint team of District Police Udhampur and the Drug Inspector conducted an inspection, leading to the permanent sealing of the shop. A show-cause notice has also been issued to the owner for violating drug regulations.
