2/16/2025 10:08:03 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 16: The Congress party’s humiliating defeat in the recent Assembly elections has led to a major shake-up, with more heads likely to roll after the sacking of Bharatsinh Solanki as incharge of Jammu and Kashmir Congress.
According to highly placed sources, the party’s high command is taking serious steps to revive the party in Jammu and Kashmir, and Solanki’s removal is just the beginning.
“Bharatsinh Solanki’s removal is just the beginning. The party will take action against some senior leaders who were responsible for the humiliating defeat of the party in the Assembly polls”, sources said, adding, “Apart from taking feedback from the local leaders, the Congress high command has also sought feedback from some independent agencies to ascertain causes of party’s defeat”.
Sources said that the role of some senior leaders in the party’s defeat has been established because of their stubborn attitude. The Congress lost as many as six seats in Jammu province.
“By sacking Solanki, high command has given a clear message that action will be taken against senior leaders that anyone who will be responsible for the debacle of the party will not be

spared”, sources said.
The party has already issued show-cause notices to six leaders for working against former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand in the Chhamb assembly segment. A Fact Finding Committee was also formed to ascertain the reasons behind the party’s worst-ever defeat in the Assembly elections.
The Congress party’s defeat in the 2024 Assembly elections was a historic low, with the party winning only six seats, including just one seat from Jammu province. The party’s grassroots leaders are pointing fingers at senior JKPCC members, accusing them of prioritizing personal and monetary gains over the party’s interests.
The infighting within the party is making it harder for the Congress to bounce back from its recent loss.
However, the party’s high command is determined to take action against senior leaders responsible for the defeat, and Solanki’s sacking is seen as a clear message that no one will be spared.
The Congress party’s struggles in Jammu and Kashmir are a far cry from its dominant position in the region in the past. The party’s revival will depend on its ability to address internal conflicts and prioritize the interests of its workers and voters.
