SRINAGAR, Feb 28: Police have successfully cracked multiple sheep theft cases by arresting a gang of three rustlers in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, officials said. Consequently, FIR No. 03/2025 at Police Station Heerpora and FIR Nos. 21/2025, 23/2025, and 31/2025 at Police station Shopian were registered and investigations were initiated.
To expedite the investigation and recover the stolen livestock, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by the police and a team interrogated multiple suspects besides analyzing CCTV footage from various routes.
During the investigation, police eventually identify and apprehend the culprits besides making recovery of dozens of stolen sheep.
The arrested individuals are identified as Tariq Ahmad Dar a resident of Raiwatan Aasnoor, Kulgam, Nissar Ahmad Malla, of Wazir Check, Imam Sahib, Shopian and Abdul Rehman Mir of Sarmarg Kandimarg, Kulgam.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple theft incidents, not only in Shopian but also in Bijbehara (Anantnag) and Kakapora (Pulwama).
