Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Mar 8: The Motor Vehicle Department has launched an intensive 5- day enforcement drive here to curb traffic violations in the district.
The operation, conducted at various locations including National Highway, Darhal, Koteranka and Sunderbani, led to challaning of 77 vehicles and seizure of 10 others for violating traffic rules.
A fine of Rs 1.79 lakh was imposed on violators, while show-cause notices were issued to 8 drivers and 5 were served suspension notices for their Registration Certificates (RCs) for their involvement in bovine smuggling.
During the crackdown, drivers were instructed to adhere to traffic norms, avoid over speeding and overloading and mandatorily display fare lists in their vehicles. Special focus was placed on vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates and driving licenses.
The authorities also issued stern warnings against carrying goods on the rooftops of passenger vehicles, emphasizing that such violations pose a serious risk to public safety.
The drive was part of the Motor Vehicle Department’s continuous efforts to enforce road safety and discipline in Rajouri. The administration has urged all vehicle operators to comply with traffic regulations to ensure safe and smooth transportation across the district.
