Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 13: In a daring display of proactive policing, the Janipur Police Station thwarted a brazen theft attempt at High Court Chowk Janipur, saving the state exchequer a whopping Rs 20 lakhs. At around 2:30 midnight, a group of thieves, reportedly from the Gujjar community, attempted to pilfer PDD department wires. However, the alert police team, led by Head Constable Sanjay Kumar and Constable Javid Choudhary, sprang into action, intervening courageously to prevent the theft. During the confrontation, HC Sanjay Kumar was seriously injured after being attacked with a cutter by the thieves. Despite his injuries, the brave officer remained steadfast, ensuring the thieves were chased away.
The SHO Janipur promptly informed PCR Jammu, activating a search for the suspected vehicle. The injured police personnel was rushed to Sarwal hospital for treatment. An FIR (no. 40/2025) has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is underway to catch the culprits and the vehicle involved.
The bravery and selflessness towards assigned duty by HC Sanjay Kumar, who put his life on the line to protect the public is appreciable ," said SDPO City West, Jammu. "We will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and security of our citizens."
