Street play promotes safe, eco-friendly Holi celebrations | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Mar 13: The District Information Centre Samba organized a street play (Nukkad Natak) today at Community Health Centre (CHC) Ghagwal to promote safe, respectful, and eco-friendly Holi celebrations. Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Champa Devi Thakur was the chief guest. The program drew a significant gathering of hospital staff, patients, and local residents, who were engaged by performances highlighting the importance of water conservation and respectful behavior during Holi, especially towards women. "Holi is a festival of colors and unity. Through this initiative, we aim to encourage responsible celebrations that protect our environment and promote social harmony," said District Information Officer Ekshu Sharma. The street performers conveyed key messages through engaging skits and musical presentations, focusing on: Adopting water-saving practices to address water scarcity; Ensuring respectful behavior towards all participants, especially women; Creating an inclusive and comfortable environment for everyone The ADDC appreciated the initiative and emphasized the need for balancing traditional celebrations with environmental and social responsibility. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Samba, Dr. Vidhi Buthyal, District Information Officer Ekshu Sharma, hospital staff and locals were present at the event. The event is part of a broader awareness campaign being conducted across the district to promote safe and eco-friendly Holi celebrations ahead of the festival on March 14, 2025. |
