Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 6: Greater Kailash gold robbery case has taken a sinister turn as the accused have confessed that they murdered a young man to cover up the crime.
A police official told Early Times that on 05/04/2025, a missing report was lodged under Police Station Satwari by Ashok Kumar S/o late Pooran Dass, regarding his son, Harsh Dev Sharma (24 years), who had left home 2–3 days prior and was untraceable despite the family’s persistent efforts. Ashok and brother of Harsh shared Harsh’s contact number for technical analysis.
“During the course of the investigation, CDR and IPDR analysis revealed that there was an inter communication between Harsh Dev and Rahul, Tushar, Bharat Bhushan (all accused in Case FIR No. 19/2025 of PS Gangyal).”
Bharat Bhushan son of Nain Sukh of Lower Kanal, Bishnah was detained and subjected to sustained questioning, during which he made a startling confession.
“He (Bhushan) disclosed that Harsh Dev Sharma was a close friend of Sunil Sharma—one of the main accused in the robbery and on the day of the robbery, Sunil inadvertently disclosed details of the planned loot to Harsh before executing it. Thereafter on 10th of February, Sunil was deliberately sent to drug de-addiction centre in Kathua by Rahul Sharma to avoid contact with Police, causing Harsh to lose direct contact with him,” the official said, adding, “After the contact was broken with Sunil, Harsh began cont
During the course of the investigation it came to fore that there was inter communication between Harsh Dev and Rahul, Tushar, Bharat Bhushan.
Harsh Dev Sharma was a close friend of Sunil Sharma—one of the main accused in the robbery.
Harsh began contacting Rahul Sharma, demanding Sunil’s share in the robbery and threatening to expose the robbery.
The trio took Harsh along to the Surinsar–Mansar area, where they murdered Harsh, and buried his body in a remote spot.
cting Rahul Sharma, demanding Sunil’s share in the robbery and threatening to expose the robbery. His persistent pressure created panic among the conspirators. Fearing that Harsh might alert the police and derail their escape, the main accused — Rahul Sharma (Advocate) S/o Shashi Sharma R/o Lower Kanal near Grameen Bank, Bishnah, along with Tushar Kumar (22 years) S/o Late Sewa Ram R/o Lower Canal, Bishnah, and Bharat Bhushan — hatched a murder conspiracy.”
“On the pretext of celebrating Rahul’s birthday, the trio took Harsh along to the Surinsar–Mansar area, where they made Harsh to consume alcoholic beverage. Taking advantage of the moment, all the accused (Rahul, Tushar, Bharat Bhushan) murdered Harsh, and while returning, buried his body in a remote spot around 8 km away from Surindar area, in an attempt to eliminate all evidence,” the official added.
He said the missing report of Harsh has been converted into FIR No. 68 u/s 103/301/3(5) BNS at PS Satwari, and further investigation is underway. Police along with EMIC, and forensic team pressed into action. The case is being closely monitored under the supervision of the senior officers of South Zone along with SSP Jammu.
This shocking development exposes the depth of criminality and the extent to which the accused went to protect their interests. Jammu Police remains committed to ensuring that every layer of this conspiracy is exposed and every culprit is brought to justice.
