Jammu, Apr 8: The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Women Development Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura, Mishriwala, under the aegis of IQAC, organized an Awareness cum Interaction Programme focused on the “Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace” (POSH) Act, 2013.
The event was structured into three impactful sessions aimed at sensitizing students and staff about workplace safety and legal safeguards under the POSH Act.
In the first session, Ms. Meenu Padha, a practicing lawyer at the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, delivered a detailed talk on the provisions of the POSH Act.
She elaborated on the legal definitions of sexual harassment, committee composition, complaint procedures, and the penalties involved.
The second session featured an interactive discussion, where students actively engaged with the speaker and raised pertinent questions.
Their queries were addressed by both Ms. Padha and the committee members.
Principal Dr. Kulvinder Kour, in her address, emphasized the seriousness of the Act and urged students to remain focused on building their careers and adhering to ethical behavior. Prof. Geetanjali Multani, Convener of ICC, introduced the committee members and reiterated their dedication to creating a safe and respectful environment for all.
The third session showcased student presentations on the POSH Act by Roshan, Khushi, Anjali, and Poonam from both NEP and CBCS streams, reflecting their understanding and perspectives.
Tanmay Mahajan, a student of IV Semester, hosted the program.
The event witnessed participation from senior faculty members, ICC members, and the Women Development Cell.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, highlighting the college’s zero tolerance policy against sexual harassment and its commitment to upholding dignity and safety for all.
