Jammu, Apr 8: Verma Gharana paid rich tribute to “Pt. Krishan Lal Verma”, an eminent Tabla Maestro by organizing a programme at Abhinav Theatre to highlight the deeds and achievements of Sh. Krishan Lal Verma in the field of Music, Art and Languages. The event was organized by his son Mr. Neeraj Verma who is a reputed Tabla artist. Sh. Ghulam Abbas (IIS), Director, Central Bureau of Communication, J&K and Ladakh under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India was the Chief Guest of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Sh Abbas stated that the best tribute to artists is to take forward their legacy through young generation. He said artists never die but they live forever through their art Dr. Anupriya Sachar, daughter-in-law of Sh. K.L. Verma, conducted proceedings of the event. She read out a detailed paper on the life and work of Sh. K. L. Verma. The programme began with various disciples (Vasu Partap Singh, Samdeep Singh, Sehajdeep Singh, Aditya Saraf and Adhiraj) of Mr. Neeraj Verma, a renowned Tabla Maestro of J&K followed by a Vocal Recital by Vidushi Jasmeet Kour (Prof., GCW Parade). The programme concluded with the tribute paid by his son, Mr. Neeraj Verma. Wife of Sh. K.L. Verma (Smt. Shama Verma), Daughter in laws (Mrs. Seema Verma and Mrs. Sapna Verma), Son of Gharana (Mr. Pankaj Verma and Mr. Shovit Verma) and Grand Childrens (Akarshit Verma, Utishth Verma and Jaisnavi Verma) also graced the occasion. The programme proved to be a fruitful and energetic for the entire music community. |
