Desh Bhagat University celebrates National Earth Day

MANDI GOBINDGARH, Apr 22: The Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Computing at Desh Bhagat University, organized a meaningful event to mark National Earth Day 2025, aimed at raising awareness about environmental protection and promoting sustainable practices.
The celebration commenced with a Tree Plantation Drive, reinforcing the commitment of the university community to safeguarding the planet. The event was graced by the Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Sadawarti, whose presence inspired students and faculty alike.
Key dignitaries including Dr. Khushboo Bansal, Deputy Director of the Faculty, Dr. Pooja Sharma, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and Dr. Sougata Chattopadhyay, Convenor of the programme, joined hands with dedicated faculty members and enthusiastic students in planting saplings across the campus.
A key highlight of the programm was a guest lecture by Dr. V. Preethi, a renowned academician and researcher from SSN College of Engineering, Chennai. She delivered an insightful talk on the topic "Energy Production from Industrial Wastewater", discussing innovative methods for hydrogen recovery from industrial waste streams -a promising avenue for sustainable energy.
The event also featured academic presentations by students and participants, who shared their perspectives and innovative ideas related to environmental conservation and engineering solutions for a greener future.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sougata Chattopadhyay.
