Sprawling buds ICSE school dominates 24th Jammu district sport climbing competition

Jammu, Apr 27: Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu, emerged as the undisputed champion in the 24th Jammu District Sport Climbing Competition, securing a total of 13 medals including 5 Gold, 4 Silver, and 4 Bronze. The competition, which concluded today, saw participation from over 600 climbers from various schools across the district.
Sprawling Buds ICSE School dominated the competition by clinching all the medals in the Mini Boys and Sub Junior Boys categories, and also took home gold and silver medals in the Sub Junior Girls category, along with a gold in the Junior Girls category.
Other notable performances came from Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Kujwani, which won four medals, including one Silver, two Bronze, and a special Gold medal. St. Xavier Convent Sr. Secondary School, Barnai secured 1 Gold and 3 Silver medals, while Shining Star High School, Muthi and Coventry Scholars, Janipur each won 1 Silver. Elite Public School, Udhewala, Jammu, earned a special Bronze medal.

Award Ceremony:
The valedictory function was graced by Parveen Sharma, Chairman of The Citizen Cooperative Bank Pvt Ltd, who was the Chief Guest. Alongside him, Rahul Sharma, Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, and Arti Sharma, Principal of Apple Kids School, Bantalab, presented medals to the winners.
The ceremony also saw the presence of Seema Sharma, Director of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Shivani Charak, an international climber, Vikas Singh, a senior climber, and Satish Bhan, a sports organizer.
The competition was inaugurated by Padma Shri Awardee Prof. Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, on the first day. The event was organized by the Mountaineering Association of J&K, in collaboration with Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu, and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
Preparations are already underway for the Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, and Samba District Sport Climbing Competitions, which are set to take place in the coming days.
The event concluded on a high note, showcasing the growing interest and talent in sport climbing within the region, with the aim to further elevate the sport’s presence in Jammu and Kashmir.
